Technology

At Mater Maria Catholic College we aim to provide a learning environment where students embrace technology and staff are appropriately trained to meet the needs of students’ learning. As competent and savvy users, students are empowered in their learning and formation and all learning areas in the College promote positive and relevant ICT experiences in their students’ learning.

The College is digitally networked and has a PC/Mac environment. There are four computer laboratories of desktops; one smaller pod of desktops and individual desktops are located in each classroom. A ceiling mounted projector and audio system is also installed in each classroom. Notebook trolleys are available across our site.

In addition the Fitzmaurice Learning Centre provides a 250sqm open plan learning space with 143 networked PCs. The learning centre provides access for up to eight or nine classes simultaneously. This space presents teachers and students with exciting opportunities which invite students into a stronger self-directed approach to their learning. While teaching and learning will remain in the domain of the teacher-student relationship, this kind of learning resource has potential for the future and is a forerunner of schools which will look and function very differently to the traditional image of the older twentieth century school.
